Can you even remember what those old fragrances smelled like? And doesn’t cologne/perfume change over the years, whether used or unused? I think the very first bottle after that hideous Evening in Paris stuff was Shalimar. At the time I thought the mysterious oriental sandalwood scent was heady and lovely. Later, I remember as a girl of twenty loving Yves St. Laurent’s Rive Gauche. So a few years ago I went on e-bay and bought me a bottle. It was truly foul! Not the lovely fragrance I remembered.
So today I was waxing nostalgic about different scents I remember wearing and loving. Some of my faves were Tigress, Wind Song, Je Reviens, Ciara and as pictured above Cool Spell. I’ve even been searching e-bay and do you know most of those old scents are still available? However, Cool Spell is not. Cool Spell was manufactured by Coty in the 1960′s. You could get a huge bottle of this toilette water aka “splash” for about $5. I remember it as having a light floral fragrance. I also remember it didn’t stay on the market long and a few years later I wrote to the company asking if they had a “secret cache” somewhere that I could buy. No such luck. But, they did bring it back on the market for a trial period (too short lived, if you ask me).
Remember Chantilly, Emeraude, Woodhue, Prince Matchabelli, Estee Lauder Youth Dew? What were your favorites?
